Unused vintage - stored away, forgotten and rediscovered.

This is a fabulous serving tray that could also be decorative wall art and it appears to be Japanese lacquerware with a carved look that reminds me of Chinese cinnabar.

Based on what I could find, this appears to be Kamakura-Bori Lacquerware from Kamakura Japan. The colors are brights d the tray is in excellent condition- there does seem to be a thin Seam visible on the serving side of this piece

Kamakura-bori is an artisan lacquerwork technique from Kamakura in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, with a seven-century-old history. Originated in traditional Buddhist sculpture and later transferred to contemporary craftsmen. Patterns are made in wood, lacquered with several colour coats of Macomo Indian Ink, and then polished
