You may have noticed glass insulators such as this one atop railroad poles. During the era when telegraphs were a primary method of communication, these glass insulators kept the wires from coming into direct contact with the poles, helping to insulate the signal.
The insulator in the left in first photo is stamped Hemingray 42, Made in USA. According to Hemingray Info, the Hemingray-42 was produced between 1921 and 1960. It is in very good condition with some small dings toward the base ( see photo). This is $20 bought separately from the other
