This vintage from the 1970s is this Wedgwood Kutani Crane Round Trinket Box. In perfect condition.
This type of trinket box is made from fine bone China, featuring a beautifully detailed pattern known as the "Kutani Crane." The pattern is inspired by traditional Japanese Kutani ceramics and depicts a crane—a symbol of good fortune and longevity—surrounded by vibrant floral motifs, often including peonies and other flowers.
The box has a smooth, white background, and the lid is adorned with the colourful design, which is outlined in gold. The edge of the lid is usually trimmed with a gold band, adding a touch of elegance. The interior of the box is plain white, allowing the external decoration to be the main focus.
Wedgwood, an English pottery company, is known for its high-quality porcelain and bone China products, and the Kutani Crane pattern is one of its more collectible and recognizable designs. This type of trinket box would be used to store small items such as jewellery, coins, or other keepsakes and would often be displayed as a decorative piece due to its intricate design and craftsmanship.
