I am removing redundancies from my hand percussion collection now that all my stuff is in one place and can be compared again after a coast-to-coast move. These are all fine instruments, but I am more productive when I perfect my technique on fewer choices and fine-tune my playing to specific models.

This is what hasn't sold yet:

$30 -- Gon Bops B085 Tumbao Rock Bell (8” Length x 5.25” Width x 3.25” Depth, Heavy Gauge Steel) w/ V-Grip Mount
$45 -- Gon Bops Medium Red Cabasa -- similar sounding to LP's model, but a slightly better construction and tone
$8 -- Ludwig Wood Mexican-Style Maracas
$11 -- Steve Weiss Music W1-CC-DC Bell Plate 9” x 8” (Chrome Metal), Pitched to B.

These prices are all below 50% of current prices, despite being near mint condition on the whole. I'd rather avoid putting these up for non-local sale due to the time and hassle of shipping and making such estimates.

I have too much cowbell. :-) If you need "more cowbell", this is the place! All but one have now sold, but another one will be posted shortly, as soon as its replacement arrives!

My preference is for super-dry cowbell tone, which is hard to come by. In this quest, I lucked out and found a small JCR cha-cha bell and large bongo bell shortly before that Brooklyn hand-made company closed shop. Not many know this, but they were the first to make truly professional cowbells, and most of LP's early efforts and many from other companies, attempt to reproduce what that guy accomplished. Even at the NAMM show this week, Meinl released a cowbell beater that is patterned after JCR's.

As I wanted cowbells to mount on a drum set and on a timbales stand, I sought additional sizes and makers, with attachments (the JCR's are for hand-held playing, which of course affords easier opportunities to mute the sound even if just for accenting phrases).

This brought me to the Gon Bops Tumbao Series of Heavy gauge Steel cowbells, which is an extensive set and most of them come with their excellent V-Grip for attaching to a stand. The ones I am putting up for sale have very similar sound to my JCR's or are redundant due to being the same size.

If you are looking for wet salsa bells, this is not the place. One of them is labeled for salsa, but in that genre wet bells are the norm.

Note that I have added muffler dots (rubber) inside the top rim of each cowbell, to cut down on tonal resonance. Easily (re)moved.

I think the Gon Bops Tumbao Series Cowbells may have been discontinued, as they are no longer showing up on typical online retailer sites. They are a small company compared to LP and Meinl and frequently discontinue products.

I was curious about bell plates, as I thought they might be a cheaper way to emulate the sound of tubular bells, and for the most part they are. But as this one is only made in one pitch/size, I need to move on to more expensive models in order to gather a small pitch set.

What you see is how it arrived, which I don't consider mint so I list it as excellent even though the condition hasn't changed (I have barely played it). Mostly, it appears the rope rubbed a bit on the mirror-like chrome surface during shipping, but it doesn't affect its sound or longevity, and chrome is rather difficult to keep free of smudges, fingerprints, etc., anyway.
