Abigail is a very pretty and smart 4 year old hound. Abby is housetrained and crate trained and not destructive. She is sweet and affectionate with those she knows and a bit shy with strangers. Because she's wary of new people, she'll do best in a home with teenagers and adults.
She likes other dogs and will do well living with a confident dog as a role model. She has a tendency to guard her food with other dogs so needs to be fed separately. She does not guard food with humans. ABIGAIL IS IN DESPERATE NEED OF A LOVING FOSTER HOME.
Abigail picks up training quickly and loves to give kisses to her friends. She is a little nervous with urban noises but with a little time, she'll be totally comfortable living as a big city girl.
Abigail is in a foster home in northern Virginia
Abigail came to us with her sister Mary after being found as strays and brought to a rural shelter. It was discovered that Abigail had heartworm. Thankfully, the rural Virginia shelter was able to get her treated and Homeward Trails was able to rescue both of these lovely hounds.
Abigail needs to stay calm til mid March after her treatment. After that, she will be able to resume play and live a full and active life. She’s a fun-loving, affectionate dog.
