The primary responsibility of the Senior Network Administrator is to provide the technical expertise needed to support day-to-day operations. This includes leading efforts to architect, maintain, optimize and audit our rapidly growing networks to meet the needs of operations and business requirements. A Senior Network Administrator will be expected to demonstrate innovative approaches to solving the unique challenges encountered at a rapidly expanding company in a technical industry.
This position is available in Virginia Beach, VA. For the time being, training and onboarding will be conducted remotely to keep associates safe.
Plan and coordinate maintenance, repairs and changes in accordance with change management policies and communicate expected changes clearly to the company and to our customers
Configure, implement, manage and troubleshoot Brocade enterprise class routers and switches, including MLXe, CER-RT and ICX, as well as Arista switches at our core switching layer.
Participate in the oversight and operation of continuously operated networks and data centers
Manage equipment in an environment where network availability is critical to the business
Design and deploy new enterprise class networks, including routers, switches and firewalls
Serve as a mentor and an escalation point for junior network administrators
Troubleshoot issues at both Layer 2 and Layer 3 networks quickly and efficiently
Monitor and test service quality and network performance regularly
Produce documentation of network design and configuration
Certification in at least one of the following: BCNE, BCNP, CCNA, CCNP or CCIE
6+ years Red Hat Linux, CentOS Linux, or UNIX operating systems
5+ years with high availability topologies in both routing and switching layers
5+ years experience with Layer 3 technologies: IPv4, IPv6, OSPF, BGP, HSRP, VRRP, QoS
5+ years experience with network authentication protocols (TACACS, RADIUS)
Extensive knowledge and understanding of spanning tree protocol and VLANs
Experience managing firewalls or other threat defense systems in a large traffic environment
Experience with IOS Routing Maps, Policy Based Routing, Preflix-List Configurations
Experience in implementing scalable and redundant networks required
Knowledge of security best practices all the way up to the enterprise network layer
Advanced scripting languages such as Bash, Python, Ruby, Perl
Automation and configuration management with Ansible, Fabric and Puppet
Experience with virtualization technologies such as OpenVZ, Virtuozzo, KVM
Familiarity with data analysis using the real-time graphing systems “Graphite” and “Cacti”
Familiarity with advanced monitoring systems using Icinga, Nagios, SNMP
Experience with various storage technologies, including RAID, NFS and iSCSI
