This laptop was made at the cusp of a lot of technologies. It's a little heftier but has some great speakers (Beats branded) and the speaker drivers are very large, probably the best sounding laptop you can get.
It has a full HD 1920 x 1080 bright, glossy display. Looks better than many modern displays due to the crisp gloss but it is reflective.
It has 4 USB 3.0 ports.
It has support for a 2.5 inch SATA as well as an mSATA ssd. I have Windows 10 installed on the 22 GB mSATA ssd that came with the computer. You could throw another 2.5 inch drive in it and see both (though I don't think it will boot from the 2.5 inch while the mSATA module is populated)
Has 8 GB of RAM and one free RAM slot.
The Core i7 is still really capable. There is an Intel HD 4600 for low power tasks and the Nvidia GeForce GT 840M is good for ~25,000 3dMarks in 3DMark03. This is great for millennium era gaming as Doom 3, FarCry, Half Life 2 all the way up to Black Ops 2 plays really well on this laptop. Good Old Gaming installers work great on Windows 10 64-bit.
Comes with an original HP power adapter and the battery is still healthy (holds an hour or two of charge depending on tasks).
