This OptiPlex 390 is great for Windows XP/Vista/7 era gaming PC. It has native drivers for XP through Windows 10. This one has been fitted with a GeForce and Audigy card that offers up to 7.1 through analog outputs, hardware accelerated EAX.
Specs:
- Core i5 2400
- 4 GB of DDR3 (max for XP - 1 of 2 slots used, seems to be unstable with both slots populated)
- 500 GB SATA WD Blue 3.5 (Dell XP Pro Installed)
- NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT PCI-E 1 GB (Dual DVI, can do HMDI and VGA out with a passive adapter that I can include)
- Sound Blaster Audigy FX (can't get this work under XP but maybe you'll have luck, works good with Vista, 7, and 10)
- SATA DVD +/- RW
- Integrated gigabit ethernet
This optiplex is very flexible with a standard ATX form factor. The power supply is completely standard and the motherboard takes a regular 24 pin so you can drop in a better power supply if desired for a more powerful GPU. I have run a GTX 950 in this with no problems (100 watt TDP)
Can also handle desktop tasks, Windows 7 and 10 work on this and an SSD would make it very fast.
The 9800 GT can be swapped out for no charge with a Radeon HD 4670 which has S-Video out for native analog out out in case you want to hook this up to a CRT and play retro games through emulators.
Good for NES, Super Nintendo (SNES), Sega Genesis, Dreamcast, PlayStation, up to GameCube / Wii at 640x480.
Super Smash Brothers Melee / Slippi works perfectly on this and it's like playing on a real GameCube when using s-video out. This is great as a modern computer that can output to old analog displays for CRT gaming.
Also really nice for classic games on a CRT, Unreal Tournament and FarCry looks amazing on CRTs still.
