The OEM GBC motherboard has been thoroughly cleaned with IPA (I do not use boards that show any significant signs of corrosion or damage). The power switch has been disassembled, cleaned to remove carbon buildup, and reassembled. The system is clean and the exterior is mint, since the display, shell, and buttons are brand new. The GBC has been tested post-modification to make sure the display, buttons, speaker, link port, and headphone jack all work properly. Note that this modded GBC still requires two (2) AA batteries (e.g., alkaline or rechargeable Ni-MH).
The FunnyPlaying Retro Pixel IPS LCD features a touch sensor under the top of the shell that allows the user to adjust display brightness (tap) or change pixel grid effect (hold). The position of the LCD display area, as well as the color of the "GAME BOY COLOR" logo, can be changed by long pressing SELECT+START to enter the function mode; tapping the touch sensor then switches between:
- Vertical position ("GAME" highlighted, press SELECT or START to move up or down)
- Horizontal position ("BOY" highlighted, press SELECT or START to move right or left)
- Logo color ("COLOR" highlighted, press SELECT or START to cycle through colors).
Long-pressing SELECT+START will exit the function mode.
