I own a single-family home in Manassas, Virginia. I am looking for one roommate to live in the second bedroom of my three bedroom, three bath house. It is just me and my wife in the Master bedroom and the third bedroom has a daybed but is essentially my office/computer room. The room for rent is fully furnished with a queen-size bed and there are two side-by-side closets in that room. You will have your own private bathroom. I am retired from Fairfax County Government. I also own a house in Guatemala, CA and share my time living in both places with my wife. Because I am living in both places, I need a roommate that is responsible and can take care of my house in my absence. I would prefer a mature responsible male roommate and I would like this person to be handy, to be able to take care of the small stuff that might need to be done during my absence. I have hired a man to take care of my yard when I am not here, so that would not be an issue for the roommate. Taking care of my mail and watering a few plants would be something I would ask to have done when I am not here. The roommate would have use of most common areas of the house including the kitchen, laundry room. I do not smoke and my friends do not smoke in my house and would prefer a nonsmoker.
The house is on the edge of Old Town Manassas which is full of shops and restaurants. The VRE is within walking distance for anyone wanting to commute to DC by train. The place is very comfortable and has a lot to offer rather than just a room to rent. The monthly rent is $850 plus $850 for the deposit. This monthly rent does include the utilities which I pay through automatic debits.
I am looking for a long-term, male renter willing to sign a 12-month lease.
