We are looking for someone to join our group house in Columbia Heights for a large, sunny second floor room that shares a bathroom with one housemate for $850. Utilities usually are around $100-130/month per person. Dimensions are approx 16 x 13 ft, ceiling around 9ft. It easily fits a queen-sized bed, desk, couch, and dresser and it includes a large closet.
Current roommates: we are three white, neurodivergent queers in their 30’s - mid 40’s who work in government and academia. 3rd floor roommates are a couple/have their own bathroom. We like to do games/food/tv together when possible and value community in our home. Some of our interests and hobbies include pottery, hiking / foraging, spending time by the water, sailing, dancing, and playing on way too many queer sports teams. We all enjoy watching trash on tv and queer dating/reality shows are a shared favorite.
We are looking for someone in a similar age range, strong preference for another queer or queer-ish person who is not a cis guy. We don’t cook meat in the house & value honest communication.
House: We are .4 miles from the Columbia Heights metro and .5 miles from the Petworth metro. The house has a large kitchen, dining room, and living room, a back room on the second floor that we use as a shared study/workout room/guest room, a basement with washer/dryer and some storage space, front porch/yard, a small back yard, and garage (occupied by two cars of current roommates). We clean up after ourselves and have a rotating monthly cleaning schedule. The current agreement is 420 friendly, but we ask for smoking to happen in bedrooms/outside and not in communal space.
Covid/flu/sickness precautions: we ask for communication at first sign of sickness or covid exposure, and have an agreement for any roommate who has a known covid exposure or is sick to mask in common spaces.
The room is available starting October 11, but we could work out a later move-in date if necessary. Email us a short description of yourself, what you are looking for in a group house, any prior experience with group houses, and if you have a pet.
